Garrity, Derald J. W.
Derald J. W. Garrity, 69, Burlington, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at his home. He was born Sept. 11, 1938, in Green Bay, to James Albert and Mildred F. (nee Van Zeeland) Garrity. He spent his early life and received his education in Green Bay. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 until 1958. Derald was united in marriage to Evelyn Marie Okray on April 27, 1957, at St. Patrick's Church in Green Bay. Following marriage they resided in Alameda, Calif. They have been residents of Burlington for the past 47 years. Derald worked at Chrysler in Kenosha for 31 years. He ran a garage in Lyons for five years and Como Auto Salvage in Lake Geneva for 20 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Burlington, and the Racine Harley Hog Chapter. Derald had a love of motorcycles, animals, traveling, cars, outdoor work and his great-grandbabies.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn M. Garrity; father, James Albert Garrity; children, Lynn A. Johnston, James R. Garrity, Steven M. (Corinne Snopek) Garrity, Teri L. (Brian) Semm and Betsy Bosworth; grandchildren, Michael, Jamie and Joshua Johnson, Tonya, Tara and Jenna Winkler, Dan and Bobbie Lynn Garrity, James Pesicek, Melanie Thomas, Daniel Garrity, Derrick Goetsch and Krystal Garrity. He is further survived by great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Madison Fonseca and Autumn Fry; siblings, Donald (Evelyn) Garrity, Arizona; Darlene Van Camp, Roger (Carlotta) Garrity, Donna Garrity, James (Jill) Garrity, all of Green Bay; and Michael (Angie) Garrity, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a son, Daniel L. Garrity.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Jeff Thielen officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. Prayer Vigil.
