- Mary Jane Vander Velden (nee: Greinert), age 82, passed away on December 6, 2011 at her home. She was born on February 13, 1929 in Shiocton to the late Walter and Lillian Greinert (nee: Schuetzel). She graduated from Appleton High School in 1947, and was employed at Kimberly-Clark until her retirement in 1991. An avid outdoorswoman, Mary Jane enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at her cottage. She is survived by her brother Bob (Jean) Greinert, her sister Betty (Larry) Flanders, nieces and nephews. She also has a step-son, Grant (Julie) Vander Velden, of Iowa, and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Vander Velden. Mary Jane had many friends and wonderful neighbors, George and Mary Schabo, who treated her like family.
A memorial service will be held Monday, December 12th, at 11:00am at First United Methodist Church of Neenah-Menasha, located at 108 West Doty Ave., Neenah. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary Jane's name may be directed to AMC Cancer Center, 1818 North Meade St., P.O. Box 1222, Appleton, WI 54911.
