- Gladys D. Niec, age 91, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012 at Appleton Medical Center. Gladys was born on February 17, 1921 in the Town of Dale, daughter of the late Acie and Sadie (Sauerhammer) Jones. The family moved to the Town of Freedom where she grew up. On August 17, 1940, she was married to Edward Niec in Pulaski, Wisconsin and they enjoyed 52 years together until he passed away in 1992. She was a long-time member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Mackville. Gladys was a loving and devoted mother. She loved to cook and bake for her family, and also enjoyed canning and gardening. Her biggest passion in her life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved them all dearly and will be greatly missed.
Gladys is survived by her eight sons, Edward "Jr," of Little Chute, Robert (Barbara) of Black Creek, Ervin of Appleton, Donald (Marie) of Black Creek, Larry (Linda) of Black Creek, David of Seymour, Michael (Susan) of Appleton, and Randy (Tammy) of Black Creek; four daughters, Rose (Kenneth) Kahler of Black Creek, Doris Jansen of Appleton, Betty (Joe) Rosera of Hortonville, and Bonnie (Darrell) Rose of Black Creek. She is further survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and a former son-in-law, Keith Rahmlow; and other nieces and nephews. She was further preceded in death by a son, Ricky in 1962; a granddaughter, Lana Jansen; a great-grandson, Angelo Niec; a son-in-law, Daniel "Speedo" Jansen; a daughter-in-law, Christine Niec; and brothers, William and Clarence Jones.
The Mass of Resurrection for Gladys will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012 at ST. EDWARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, N2926 State Road 47, Appleton, with Fr. Mark Vander Steeg officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2211 N. Richmond Street, Appleton. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
Gladys was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to many and will be missed deeply by all.
