Huven, Mrs. John "Dorothy"
Mrs. John "Dorothy" Huven, 76, Green Bay resident, died early Monday morning, May 10, 2004, at a local nursing home. She was born Nov. 26, 1927, in the Town of Eaton to the late Frank and Marie (Huemphner) De Grave. Dorothy married John Huven on June 19, 1948, at Holy Martyrs of Gorcum Catholic Church. She was employed at St. Vincent Hospital until her retirement in 1991. Dorothy was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post #9677. She always enjoyed sewing, gardening, and crocheting, but especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Parish.
She is survived by her husband, John; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou (Rick) Hecker, New Franken; one son, Scott (Connie) Huven, Town of Eaton; four grandchildren, Tracy and Jenna Hecker, Kimberly and Cody Huven; three sisters, Eleanor (Bob) Thompson, Verna (Norman) Thompson, Pine Grove; Alice (Mel) Loehlein, Green Bay; one sister-in-law, Doris De Grave, Town of Humboldt. She is also survived by John's two sisters, Lorraine Heindel, Virginia; Marion (Gerard) Wilde, Marinette; one sister-in-law, Rita Huven, Green Bay; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Francis Van Rite; one brother, Marvin De Grave.
Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home & Crematory, 1630 E. Mason St. from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. VFW Auxiliary Service at 6 p.m. Parish Wake Service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday after 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home until the cortege leaves for Church. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Larry Canavera officiating. Entombment in the Allouez Chapel Mausoleum.
Dorothy's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the nurses and staff at Manor Care East, Sister Helen Keyzer, and the family and friends for their kindness, consideration and prayers.
