Mrs. August Arens, 76 former Eva Kettenhofen, died Sunday at Appleton after a short illness
. A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Kettenhofen, she was born in Wrightstown, Nov. 19, 1891, a
nd was a lifelong resident of Appleton.
Mrs. Arens was a member of the Christian Mothers society of St. Joseph church at Appleton, th
e Third Order of St. Francis Monte Alverno Retreat Build, Women Foresters, and a past preside
nt of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors are four sons, Richard J. of Northbrook, Ill. George T. of Green Bay, Gerald W. o
f Appleton, Technical Sergeant Adrian H. of Mather Air Force base, Calif.; one sister-in-la
w Miss Helen Arens of Appleton; two brothers, John Kettenhofen of Sturgeon Bay, and Leonard o
f California; two sisters, Mrs. Margarite O'Brien and Mrs. Clara Zuercher, both of Chicago
, and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at St. Joseph church, Appleton, with burial in t
he parish cemetery.
