- Rita A. Scheibe, age 88, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2012 at Rennes Nursing Home in De Pere. She was born on March 22, 1923 to Jake and Margaret (Duffy) Vande Voort. She lived the first half of her life in Greenleaf/Wrightstown, working for about thirty years as a receptionist for Dr. VandeLoo and later for the doctors of the Kaukauna Clinic. She was also an excellent care-giver to her parents so that they could remain in their own home in Greenleaf. When she moved to De Pere in 1982, she worked for St. Mary and St. Francis Parishes, and most recently at St. Norbert Abbey. She found it very difficult to retire, and would have continued working if there was any possibility!
Rita is survived by her daughter, Ellen, two sisters Jane Keyzer and Margaret Brantmeier, as well as her loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and countless friends. People who knew Rita will know how she truly enjoyed welcoming everyone with refreshments, music and heartwarming conversation.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, two infant siblings, Raymond and Mary Ellen, her brother Robert, two brothers-in-law Francis Keyzer and Brandy Brantmeier, and her sister-in-law Margaret (Dietzen) Vande Voort.
Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 from 4p.m. to 8p.m. A parish wake service will be held at 7p.m. led by Sister Helen Keyzer. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere from 9:30a.m. until 10:45a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00a.m. at the church with Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Interment in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown. Online condolences may be sent to Rita's family at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
This is a wish she made known for this time: "Please, do not send flowers, just simply continue your love and prayers." Thank you to all everyone who helped Rita during these final months, especially the personnel at Rennes, Unity Hospice, and the Norbertines and our parish priests.
