- Mrs. Joseph {Johanna} Dresang, 70, a resident of Calumet County Homestead at New Holstein, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Calumet Memorial Hospital in Chilton after a lingering illness.
A native of Black Creek, she was born on Feb. 21, 1891, a daughter of Albert and Malhalida Haiven Steffens, and was married on June 5, 1923.
The couple farmed at Freedom until 1950, farmed north of Brillion until 1954, then moved to Brillion, and had lived at the Homestead for the past year.
Mrs. Dresang was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brillion and the Christian Mothers Society.
Survivors are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Nick {Edna} Binsfeld of rural Brillion; a son, Francis of Brillion; 10 grandchildren and four brothers, Henry, Lawrence and Leo of Appleton, Paul of rural Seymour. One son, a daughter, and two brothers preceded her in death.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Church in Brillion by the Rev. Raymond Schauer, pastor. Burial will be in St. Edward's Machville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion after 2 p.m. Friday. The rosary will be prayed at the church at 7 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home at 8 p.m.
