- Richard Nuhlicek, 82, E2668 Sandy Bay Road, Kewaunee, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center of Green Bay, after a brief illness. Richard was born Nov. 17, 1928, on the family farmstead in the Town of Carlton, Kewaunee County, to the late Charles and Mary Bauer Nuhlicek. He married the former Bernice Nooker on June 19, 1954, in Tisch Mills.
Richard ran the family farm where he resided his entire life. He had many other jobs including driving a milk truck, a painter at Hamilton Mfg. and a welder at Hamachek Machine Company. He also operated a sand and gravel business. Richard later converted the barn into a shop where he spent many hours engineering and building his projects, helping all neighbors who needed something fixed and sharing his vast knowledge with his sons.
He enjoyed playing his accordion with several local bands and especially liked entertaining with his music to the local nursing homes for the past ten years.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Wally Krueger, Appleton; Regina and Gary Brusky, Kewaunee; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Wendy Nuhlicek, Hudson; Dave and Sue Nuhlicek, Kewaunee; five grandchildren, Karen (John) Onderko, Neenah; Jason Krueger, Chicago; Nicole (Damian) Rahmlow, Manitowoc; Heather Nuhlicek, Mishicot; and Brandon (Jadie) Krussow, Minneapolis, Minn. He is further survived by one two-year-old great-grandson, Christian Onderko; one great-granddaughter and great-grandson who will arrive in May; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his aunts and uncles, Tilly and John Blahnik, Joe and Leona Bauer, Bessie and Leo Engeldinger and Jimmy Bauer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church in Tisch Mills, with the Reverend Dennis Drury officiating, assisted by Deacon Robert Pribek. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at the Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home, 344 So. State St., Mishicot. There will be a parish wake service Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at the funeral home led by Deacon Bob. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church, until the time of service at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Knollwood Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
