  • Notes
    • Dundas -- April 12—Early Sunday morning death took from our midst, Mrs. Barney TeVrucht, aged 55 years and 4 months.

Anna Remmes was born in Boston, Mass., in the year 1849. In 1852 in company with her parents she went to Germany where she attended school. In 1864 she returned to the United States and soon after migrated to Wisconsin. In 1868 she was married to William Rolf, who died after the short interval of 9 years, May 20, 1877, leaving six small children to the sole and tender care of their affectionate mother. Later she was married to Barney TeVrucht. The deceased has lived in this vicinity since her youth, during which them she has by her manifold good qualities secured the friendship of all with whom she came in contact. She has been a true and affectionate mother ever striving to make her home pleasant and comfortable to those who were most near and dear to her and although she has left a vacant chair in her little family circle, her many superior qualities as a wife and mother will ever stay fresh in the memory of her husband and children.

The cause of her death was asthma, aggravated by an attack of jaundice.

The deceased leaves a husband and eight children to mourn her death. The funeral services were held on Wednesday at St. Francis church at West Holland. Rev. Van Hootegem officiating. After the services the remains were taken to their last resting place, followed by her husband and heart broken children and a large number of relatives, friends and neighbors who came to pay their last tribute to a highly esteemed friend.

      The golden gates are opened,
      A gentle voice said, “Come!”
      And with farewells unspoken
      She calmly entered home.
