      Louis L. Smits, 84, Rt. 2, De Pere, died Monday afternoon in a Green Bay Hospital. He was born in the town of Rockland Jan. 10, 1980 and was the last of 13 children of the late Jacob and Gertrude Smits. Following his marriage to Elizabeth Hendricks on Oct. 25, 1921, he farmed in the town of Rockland until his retirement in 1958. She preceded him in death on March 14, 1968. Mr. Smits was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary's Church, De Pere.


      Survivors include two sons, Omer, and Richard, both of De Pere; five daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Bernice Mary) Lutsey, Green Bay; Mrs. Arthur (Mildred) Van Lanen, De Pere; Mrs. Jay (Betty) Dreis, Mequon; Mrs. Paul (Delores) Novachek, Mishicot; Sister Mary Luanne, Kaukauna; 25 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.


      Friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home, De Pere, after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Prayer service 8 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Mary Church, the Rev. Raymond Hietpas officiating.Burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
