    • Louis R. Zierler, Kaukauna, age 86, died Thursday, November 16, 2017 at American Grand Assisted Living. He was born in Alvin on October 29, 1931 to the late Frank and Freida (Schilcher) Zierler. Louis married Shirley Munes at St. Mary Parish in Kaukauna on May 3, 1957. She preceded him in death in 2013 after 56 years of marriage. Louis worked as a machine operator at James River Paper until his retirement in 1991. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Urban Klister American Legion Post 436 in Wrightstown. Louis enjoyed hunting in Alvin and spending time at the family cabin.

      Louis is survived by his children: Joe (Mary) of Kaukauna; Sue (Jim) Vanderloop of Kaukauna; John (Nona) of Kaukauna; Paul (Kim) of Manawa; and Mark (Shelley) of Kaukauna; grandchildren: Laura (Brady) Propson, Michael Zierler, Amanda, Bryan and Heather Vanderloop, Brice Masters(Selyne Evers) Ari (Jeremy) Masters-Linsmeyer, Monica (Cole) Carter, Damon Potthoff and Wyatt Zierler; great grandchildren: Colton, Colin, Sam, Ava, Cole Jr., Noble and Stella; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Janet Jury, Joyce, Bob (Marilyn), Reg (Charlene), Jim (Deb) and Mike (Kim) Munes. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

      In addition to his parents, and wife Shirley, Louis was preceded in death by his siblings and in-laws.

      Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH - ST. MARY CHURCH (119 W. 7th St. Kaukauna) from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen will officiate and Deacon Steve Vande Hey will assist. Military rites, conducted by the Urban Klister American Legion Post 436 will immediately follow.
