- Earl F. "Moon" Van Beek, 94, Green Bay, passed away on Aug. 10, 2010, at a local hospital. Earl was born on Nov. 23, 1915, in Green Bay, to the late Joseph and Frances (Borofka) Van Beek. He was a graduate of East High School in Green Bay. On June 15, 1940, he married the former Lillamae Van Rite, and they enjoyed 67 years together. She preceded him in death on Sept. 12, 2007. Earl served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Army. He was an active member of the VFW Post 9677, Winiecki Post. He retired from Procter & Gamble in 1981 after 30 years of service. Earl was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a sweet man with a sweet smile and a sweet tooth. He was an avid fan of both the Packers and Brewers, and especially loved fishing, playing cards and growing roses.
He is survived by daughters, Mary Ellen (Lawrence) Francken, De Pere; Suzanne (Thomas) Cravillion, Suamico; and Christine (John) Sullivan, Green Bay; sons, William (Yvonne) Van Beek, Green Bay; and Joseph Van Beek, De Pere; 11 grandchildren, Tony, John and Pat Francken, Traci (Troy) Van De Yacht, Jackie (fiance, Jason Weier) Cravillion, Ashley (Dan) Krupka, Jordan Van Beek, Ben and Matt Van Beek, Craig and Kelli Sullivan; two great-grandchildren, Travis and Sophia Van De Yacht with a third on the way; two sisters, Rita Vandenbush and Lucille Begotka; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillamae; daughter, Judith Van Beek; granddaughter, Katrina Van Beek; two brothers, Dick and Albert Van Beek; and sisters Mildred Knaus, Evelyn Van Beek and Margaret Van Beek.
Friends may call at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria St., on Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at church with Fr. David Pleier officiating.
