    • Harlan R. Behnke, age 61, of Hilbert, died on Friday, August 17, 2012 at his home. He was born June 6, 1951 in Chilton, son of the late Richard "Buddy" & Ida (Custer) Behnke.

Harlan married Louise Koll on November 16, 1974 in Appleton.

For 21 years, Harlan worked for LBJ Distribution from Little Chute; later in his life he also worked for Walgreens Homecare for 3 years, drove part time for Calumet County transportation service, and enjoyed his time driving pre-kindergarten children for the Hilbert School District. He was a member of Peace Evangelical & Reformed Church in Potter and had previously been a member of the Hilbert Lions Club.

Harlan appreciated the gifts that God had provided him throughout his life. He appreciated numerous outdoor activities year round especially snowmobiling, four wheeling, and fishing with his grandchildren - the greatest 'fishing buddies' a guy could ask for.

He loved his dogs, followed the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and spent many hours putzing in the garage fixing lawn mowers and snow blowers. Harlan was a wonderful family provider who cared deeply for those in his life. He always looked forward to social gatherings where he could enjoy the company of family and friends.

Survivors include his wife: Louise; his children: Laura (Brad) Kees of Chilton, Dan (April) Behnke of Kaukauna; 3 grandchildren: Makenna & Griffin Kees, Maysen Behnke; 2 sisters and a brother: Charlene (Tom) Witzke of Tennessee, Larry (Carol) Behnke of Menasha, Cheryl (Mike) Hussar of Darboy; and a brother-in-law: Gred (Kathy) Koll of Appleton. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents: Richard & Ida Behnke.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Peace Evangelical & Reformed Church (181 Main St.) in Potter with the Rev. Dr. Marc Axelrod officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 21, 2012.

Memorials are appreciated in the name of Harlan Behnke.

Harlan's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mortara, Patty Martens, Dr. Cheng, Dr. Russo and staff, and to the Theda Care Hospice for all of their wonderful care.
