Lawrence A. Boche, Sr.

Age 83, died early Saturday after a short illness. He was born April 29, 1895 in Marinette and had been a Kaukauna resident for 45 years. He had been employed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company for 28 years prior to his retirement in 1960. He was a World War I Navy veteran and was a champion boxer and French interpreter aboard ship and a professional welter weight title holder. Mr. Boche was president of union local 20 and the Thilmany Quarter Century Club, American Legion Post 41 VFW Post 3319, and St. Mary Parish, Kaukauna. He also served in the Army prior to World War I. Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Joseph (Marcella) Wimberger and Mrs. Carlon (Mary Jane) Dreier, both of Kaukauna; and Mrs. John (Cecilia) Higgins, Glenellyn, Illinois; three sons: Lawrence P. Bohe Jr., Kaukauna; Rev. Dennis G., Madison; and Dr. Raymond R., Tujunga, California; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary in 1960 and a son, Robert in 1934. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Kaukauna, with a concelebrated Mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Greenwood Funeral Home, Kaukauna, after 2 p.m. Monday. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. Monday. A memorial fund has been established in his name. There will be an American Legion memorial service at 7 p.m. Monday.
