    • Rebecca is thought to be the daughter of John Hanmer of Scituate and his wife, Ann/Hannah. The following information on John is copied from Hodge, p. 66: John 1 Hanmer, of Scituate 1634 (Deanne), 1637 (Pope); to Duxbury in 1640 (Shurtleff and Pulsifer 12:57). He was on a list of those who took the oath of fidelity as Scituate 1633-1668. "Hanmer's Hook" was the name of his lot, now (1831) part of Hanover, MA. John Hanmer, Sr. and Jr. are both on a list of "allowed and approved inhabitants" to whom portions of the common land of Scituate were assigned in 1673. (Deane). On Aug. 12, 1648 John Hanmore of Scituate deeded part of hisScituate land to Joseph Tilden; in the deed John's wife Ann Hanmore"resigns up all her dower rights". (S&P 12:168) John Hanmore witnessed the will of Richard Silverster, Sr. of Marshfiled on June 16, 1663 and appeared in court re same on Oct 2, 1663. (Mayflower Descendant 15:61) John Hanmer made his will Dec. 4, 1676, probated Mar 1, 1676/7. He named wife Hannah and sons John, Joseph, and Isaac (Pope).
