    • Ron Helms, 84, of Roscoe, IL passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017. He was born on December 12, 1932 in Appleton, WI, son of Edwin and Ruth (Van Heuklon) Helms. He was a US Navy veteran, specializing in undersea warfare. He received a B.S. from University of Wisconsin in 1959, and a B.S. from Michigan State University in 1961. He was a landscape contractor in the Chicago NW suburbs for several decades, and owner of R.J. Helms Landscape Company.

      He is survived by his wife, Irene (Stachowicz) Helms; children, Marie (Cliff) Gardiner, Kristen (Karl) Lewis, Michael (Laura) Helms, and Kathy Lee; grandchildren, Jonathon Lewis, Andrew Lewis, and Liam Gardiner; sisters, Marilyn Kern, Kate Helms, Shirley Richardson, Leone (Jack) Hahneman, Maggie (Don) Warner, Edwina (Chuck) Schueler, Ruth Anne Stiemke, and Crystal Helms; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and sister, Rita (Don) Van Elzen.

      Services will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, October 21, 2017 in St. Mary Church, 312 S. State St., Appleton, WI 54911
