- Arlene Katherine Meyer-Derks, 85, of Stanley, WI, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Wissota Health Center in Chippewa Falls, WI, under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
She was born on April 27, 1927, in the town of Reseburg, Clark County, WI, to the late Arthur and Isabelle (Freze) Meyer. On April 18, 1944, she was united in marriage to Frank Derks at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Boyd, WI. The couple farmed in the town of Delmar, Chippewa County, WI, until Frank's death in 1995.
Arlene is survived by her five children, Margaret (Bob) Sime of Boyd, Larry Derks of Cadott, WI, Donald (Juanita) Derks and Edward Derks, both of Cornell, WI, and Joseph (Mieke) Derks of Cambridge, MN; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, Alfred (Pat) Meyer of Gilman, WI, and George (Geraldine) Meyer of Minot, ND; and sisters, Edna Duce of St. Louis, MO, Bernadine Kelly of East Troy, WI, and Evelyn (Allen) Kowalczyk of Gilman.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank ('95); her parents; daughter, Karlen Almberg; granddaughter, Traci Derks; brothers, Emil, Elroy, Art "Todd" Meyer; sisters Delilah Meyer-Timm and Ellen Meyer-Derks.
Funeral services will be at noon on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father William Felix officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boyd.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley with a 7:30 p.m. Parish Vigil service. Visitation will continue from 11 a.m. Friday until 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home prior to service time at the church.
