    • Julie Metz, 63, Keshena, died Friday evening March 6, 2009 at Clarehouse Hospice Center in Tulsa, OK following an illness with cancer. She was born February 1, 1946 in Madison, WI to Donald and Loraine (Nelson) Rose. As a young women, Julie was a majority member and honor queen of Jobs Daughters, Bethel 32 in Green Bay.

      On May 11, 1971 she married John R. Christensen in Las Vegas. Following their marriage the couple lived in Allouez where they owned and operated the Now & Then Gift Store. Julie later was employed in sales by Aim Variety and Mary Kay Cosmetics before managing the bridal department of Prange’s and then going to work for Elder- Beerman. Her husband John preceded her in death in 1998. Julie was last employed at Jane’s Hallmark in Bay Park Square while living in Green Bay.

      On August 12, 2000 she married John “Jack” Metz at Legend Lake Lodge in Keshena. The couple were part owners and helped operate the Lilac Plantation in Gillett until retiring in 2005. Together Jack and Julie enjoyed a wonderful life together sharing their love for each other with their family and many friends. Following Jack’s sudden death on July 8, 2007 Julie has fought on with her own health issues while being very lonesome for Jack and decided to spend the winter with her son John and his family in Oklahoma.

      Julie attended St. Michael Catholic Church in Keshena. She will be remembered as a great friend with an engaging personality who loved and genuinely cared about people. As a great host, her home was always meticulously decorated with the current holiday decorations and she always worked hard to make certain things ran smoothly.

      Survivors are her children, John (Melissa) Christensen, Tulsa, OK; Tom (Debbie) Christensen, NJ; Karin (Dian) Boothe, Singapore; Lisa Geoheghen, Green Bay; Hans (Lisa) Christensen, Mokena, IL; Eric Christensen, Green Bay; Janna Christensen, Ocean Springs, MS; Sondra Christensen, Annapolis, MD; Margaret Metz, Little Chute; Jim (Beth) Metz, Port Charlotte, FL; Jacqueline Metz, Little Chute; Anna (Jimbo) Oninski, Oconto Falls; 25 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; one sister, Carol (Peter) Hennig, Elkhorn, WI; one brother, James (Mary Ann) Rose, Demark; many nieces and nephews.

      She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands.

      Friends may call at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls (920-848-2222 or visit: www.jonesfuneral.com) from 4:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday, March 12, 2009, 7:00 pm prayer service Thursday. Visitation will continue at St. Michael Catholic Church in Keshena after 10:00 am Friday, March 13, 2009 until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am at the church with the Rev. Fr. Dave Barrett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
