    • Alvin Henry Lietz, age 92, died peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin.

      Alvin was born September 9, 1919 in Appleton son of the late August and Albertina Lietz. He served his country with the United States Army during WWII. Alvin was united in marriage to Mary Bodmer and she preceded him in death in 1964. He then married Vera (Guyette) Davidson in 1968. She preceded Alvin in death in 2002. He built and owned the Darboy club for several years, and was a long time member of Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church, Appleton. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a great sense of humor and always had a joke to tell. Mostly Alvin loved to travel with Vera whenever they could. He was a member of the local American Legion Post 38 and VFW 2778 Post of Appleton.

      Alvin is survived by his three step-daughters, Lorna (Les) Kasten, Appleton; Bonnie (Ed) Felauer, Hortonville; and Sandy (Glenn) Kasten, Menasha; a step-son, Ronald (Nancy) Davidson, Brillion; 14 step-grandchildren, 23 step-great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Alvin was also preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

      The funeral service for Alvin will be held 6 PM Thursday, December 1, 2011at RIVERVIEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 136 W. Seymour Street, Appleton, with the Rev. A. Bode officiating. Full military honors will follow the service at the church. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Alvin's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday at the church from 4PM until the hour of service.

      Alvin's family would like to thank the entire staff at Wisconsin Veterans Home at King for their care and compassion and to his step-daughter Lorna, for all her help, love and care over the years.
