    • Bodmer, Dorothy Marie

Dorothy Bodmer, age 92, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 4, 2015. She was born in Aniwa, Wisconsin on June 16, 1922 to the late Ben and Theresa Nieuwenhuis. Dorothy was the oldest of eleven children. On February 6, 1940 she married the late Joseph Bodmer at St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton and they shared sixty-six wonderful years together.

Dorothy and Joe managed the Forester Club for seventeen years where they served the best perch in town! Dorothy also worked at the former AAL and into her 80's at Cub Foods. She would still be working as a cook or demo lady if she was able to hitch a ride!

Dorothy loved her pink roses, her daily glass of wine, socializing, and going out for Friday night fish. She loved cooking and baking, especially her apple pie.

She will be sadly missed by her children; Jerome (Dolores) Bodmer, Jo-Ann (Pete) Piotrowski, Joyce (Peter) Mislinski. Grandchildren; Catherine Kutzleb, Sheri Sato, Carly Stevenson, Scott Piotrowski, Sarah Pautz and Melissa Stevenson; great grandchildren; Vanessa Kutzleb, Jordann Kutzleb, Mia, Noah, Jasmine and Cross Sato, Tyler Stevenson, and Izah and Xavier Stevenson.

She is survived by her sister Elaine (Doc) Knapp, brothers Robert (Dorothy) Nieuwenhuis, Tom (Betty) Nieuwenhuis, Richard (Margaret) Nieuwenhuis. Dorothy is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Also, special friends Tom Witty, Mike and Kathy Levenhagen (who thought of her as their second mother); her two special hair stylists; Sheri Olson and Lori Fleming, and her precious cat "Putsy."

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, brothers Bernard (Helen) and Leonard Nieuwenhuis; sisters Yvonne (Charles) Coushman, Laverne (Al) Zyduck, Sr. Berna Nieuwenhuis, Germaine (Ben) Gebhardt.

The family would like to thank Father Gerald Falk, St. Thomas More Catholic Church as well as Sister Betty Reinders and Sister Mary Rose Menting. Special thank you also to Dr. Christine Newton and her staff for all their loving care.

The funeral liturgy for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Street, Appleton, with Father Gerald Falk officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
