- Gerald Peeters, 88, Neenah, died Sunday, May 16, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 2, 1921, in Little Chute, son of Richard and Anne (Weyenberg) Peeters. Jerry married JoAnn M. Vanden Heuvel March 21, 1946, at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly. Jerry was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, serving from 1940 until 1947 as a Warrant Officer in the Supply Corps. Jerry was in Manila Bay at the start of WWII and spent 6 years during the war in the Pacific Theatre. He was a graduate of the Henry Ford School while in the service. Jerry was employed for 21 years in the accounting department at American Can. He was also employed at Menasha Corporation for 18 years until his retirement in 1984. Jerry was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Neenah, where he formerly served as secretary/treasurer. He was also the accountant for St. Margaret Cemetery. Jerry coached basketball at St. Margaret Mary School and was a former president of the Neenah-Menasha Little League. He was a redcoat volunteer for 11 years at Theda Clark Medical Center along with volunteering 17 years preparing taxes for the low-income elderly. Jerry was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. Jerry was totally dedicated to his loving family, country, community and church.
Jerry is survived by his wife, JoAnn; 5 children: Tim (Claire) Peeters, Neenah; Patti (Rich) Chronquist, Marshfield; Becky (John) Arpin, Neenah; Jayne (Hal Moorehead) Peeters, Big Horn, Wyoming; Steve (Gretchen) Peeters, Orlando, Florida; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Doris Heiss, Appleton; two brothers: James (Ida) Peeters, Little Chute; Peter (Agnes) Peeters, Kalamazoo, Michigan; several in-laws; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and a sister and several of their spouses.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 620 Division St., Neenah, with Rev. Michael Ingold officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of mass. Interment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery, Neenah. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Theda Care Hospice.
