Kocken, Virginia M. "Genny"
Virginia M. "Genny" Kocken, 83, Oconto Falls, died peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday morning, June 28, 2007, at Sharpe Care in Oconto Falls. Virginia Mary Blodgett, the daughter of Lawrence and Geraldine (Huguet) Blodgett was born on Feb. 17, 1924, in Brown County. She grew up in Allouez and attended public schools and graduated from Green Bay West High School with the class of 1942. On Nov. 23, 1944, she was united in marriage to Christian Kocken in Allouez. They moved to the Oconto Falls area in 1957 where they farmed. Virginia was a homemaker, and worked at the Oconto Falls Nursing Home for many years. She was a former member of St. John's Catholic Church in Gillett. Mrs. Kocken enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, watching birds, playing scrabble, and enjoyed spending winters in Florida.
She is survived by three sons, Dick Kocken, Henderson, Ky.; Ken (Elizabeth) Kocken, Oconto Falls and Mike (Barb Leitze) Kocken, Suamico; six daughters, Sue (Rollie) DeVillers, Sobieski; Sharon Skubal, Florida; Debbie (Dennis) Rauterkus, Oconto Falls; Theresa (Roger) Beaber, Oconto Falls; Shirley (Mike) Kidd, Sobieski; and Tina (Peter), Green Bay; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Doris Bergesbaken, Shawano; Joan (Bob) Lange, Flintville; Judy Girard, Appleton; Pat (Dick) Dsheid, Florida and Bonnie (Bruce) Zeigelbauer, Florida; brother, Herb Blodgett, Green Bay; brother-in-law, Ed Kocken, De Pere; sister-in-law, Bunny Blodgett, Allouez and other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Christian, on Oct. 18, 1981; an infant son, Timothy; her parents; brother, Bud Blodgett.
Friends may call at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls (920-848-2222 or visit: www.jonesfuneral.com ) from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 2, 2007. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Patrick Beno, officiating. Interment will take place in the St. Anthony Cemetery.
