    • Joseph Leonard Hendricks, 90, of Tomah, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the Tomah VA Hospital with his family by his side. He was born July 19, 1921, to Anton and Rose (Bauer) Hendricks in Turtle Lake. He served in the United States Army.

      Joe was united in marriage to Patricia Effertz Dec. 29, 1951, at Almena. He worked at Larkin's Auto in Tomah for 26 years. He loved cutting trees, camping, fishing, hunting and racing, but mostly working was his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Tomah VFW Post No. 1382. Joe enjoyed snow plowing for elderly people.

      He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hendricks of Tomah; his children, John Hendricks, Jean (Kenneth) O'Hara, JoAnn Vespo, James (Mary) Hendricks, Joseph (Barb) Hendricks, Judith Hendricks (Nicholas Becerra), as well as two foster children, Tim Semore and Candy Hary; 10 grandchildren, Lori Clever, Terry Harmel, Jason Backus, Melissa Backus, Jenny Hendricks, James Hendricks Jr., Michael Hendricks, Robert Hendricks, Brandee Lada and Charles Lada Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren, Derek Zwiefel, Dustin Zwiefel, Logan Backus, Sophie Backus, Andrew Lamb, Aaron Hendricks, Allison Hendricks, Ava Harmel, Brielle Harmel and Nathan Hendricks; many nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, five brothers and son-in-law Vince Vespo.

      Memorial services were held Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Monsignor Richard Gilles officiated.
