    • Lillian (nee Vils) Niesz age 89, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, at Unity Hospice following a courageous battle with leukemia. She was born September 7, 1921, daughter of the late Chris and Ella (Baird) Vils. On July 21, 1957, Lil married John Niesz at St. Mary Catholic Church in Kaukauna. The couple lived in Kaukauna their entire married lives. John preceded her in death on October 16, 1989. Lil loved fast pitch softball, playing cards, time spent with her grandchildren and her time spent up at Crooked Lake. She also enjoyed being a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and her time spent volunteering for St. Mary's activities, functions, and the Ladies Altar Society.
      She is survived by her daughter Shannon (Mark) King, Ashwaubenon; four grandchildren: Alexis, Ross, Colin, and Walker; two great-granddaughters: Madison and Braelyn; and a sister-in-law, Racquel Vils. She is further survived by special friends, Paula and Dwayne Beyer, Kaukauna, numerous nieces and nephews. She is further survived by her husband's family: Joe Niesz, Ann Hagany, Rosie Niesz, Jack Rogers, and Ethel Niesz.
      She was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers: Bill, Ray, George, Leo, Jerry, and Ken; three sisters: Blanche Vils, Edith Vils, and Alyce Trettin.
      A Memorial Service for Lillian will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St. Mary Site, 119 W. Seventh St., Kaukauna; friends may call directly at church from 2 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in her name. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting the family. 920-766-2099
      The family would like to thank Dr. Mathew Ryan, and Nicole Spaeth for their care and compassion. Also the Staff of Green Bay Oncology (especially nurses Carol and Jule Ann) and Unity Hospice for their wonderful care.
      My Dear friend, thank you for 25 years of laughter, fun times, happy memories, and a lot of good advice. You will be in my heart forever.
