- Andrew James VerHaag, 27, of Green Bay, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday April 14, 2013. He was born August 1, 1985. He graduated from Holy Cross School and Notre Dame Academy and was certified as an EMT. He was a joyful soul who appreciated a life of service and an ideal of encouraging personal growth in those around him. He was appreciated for his skills as a photo tech at Walmart East.
Andrew saw himself as a person of persistence, gratitude, gentleness, kindness, and a help to others.
Andrew wrote poetry and enjoyed collectors' currency, lighters, swords, dragons and movies. He could quote any movie word for word after one viewing. He found happiness in bonfires and playing cards with family and friends.
He is survived by his parents: Daniel and Mary Ver Haag; siblings: Krystabelle (Bryan)Monfils, Dr. Michael (Pamela)Ver Haag, Nicholas Ver Haagh, nieces and nephews, including Elijah his Godson; aunts and uncles: Pat DeGroot, Michael(Judith)DeGroot, Paul(Sue)DeGroot, Jacky DeGroot, Barb Ver Haagh, Terry Ver Haagh, Jim Ver Haagh, Jean(Ralph)Weaver and cousins.
Andrew is also survived by the love of his life Erica Lira and her family.
Andrew was preceded in death by his sister Venus Ann; maternal grandparents Lloyd and Martha DeGroot, paternal grandparents Frank and Katherine Ver Haagh.
Gathering of family and friends will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Holy Cross Parish 3009 Bay Settlement Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 P.M. at the church with Rev. Tim Shillcox, O.Praem officiating and Rev. Thomas Hagendorf O.Praem concelebrating.
In Lieu of flowers a Memorial Fund has been established.
