    • Thursday, August 26, 1920 OBIT De Pere News ALB. MARTENS OF N. HURON ST. PASSES AWAY One of De Pere's Oldest Time Residents Member of a Remarkable Family Which Came Here from Holland in 1849. Albert Martens, one of the longest time residents of De Pere and vicinity, died at his home, 436 North Huron Street, on Wednesday night of ailments incident to old age. He was 82 years old on August 16. Mr. Martens had been in failing health for the past two years, especially since the death of his wife, in December, 1919. The funeral wil be held on Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's church, interment will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery. Mr. Martens leaves five children, namely, August of De Pere, Gertrude Fannie and Norbert at home, and Martin of Milbank. S. D., He leaves besides two aged brothers, John Martens, 89 of Milbank SD, and Adrian (John) 84 years old, of this city, and one sister, Delia (Mrs. Math. Reynen), 77 years old, of Allouez. Mr. Martens was one of a remarkable family. In 1915 there were six brothers and one sister living, whose combined ages totaled 555 years. Since then four of the brothers have died, namely, Arnold of Chili, WI, aged 75; Gerard of Allouez, aged 82; Math, of Creston, IA, aged 90, and Albert, aged 82.
