      The Post-Crescent
      July 5, 1919
Martin Beelen, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Beelen of Kimberly, was fatally injured when crushed between rolling logs while engaged in barking logs at the wood yard of the Kimberly-Clark company at Kimberly Thursday morning. He died at St. Elizabeth's hospital yesterday morning at 8:45 o'clock after suffering intense pain for twenty-four hours. An operation was performed, but it was not possible to save his life. No bones were broken, but the abdomen was badly crushed and he suffered internal injuries.

The young man was eighteen years of age. He had been a student at Lawrence College during the last year, leaving before the term was ended because of ill health. He had intended continuing next fall. Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Beelen, he is survived by three sisters, Katherine, Rose and Myrtle and one brother, Richard, all of Kimberly. Funeral services will be held at the Holy Angels Congregation at Buchanan Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock followed by burial in the family lot at Kimberly.
