- Donald Norman Fischer, age 91, of Marion, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at his home. Donald was born in Appleton, the son of the late Emil and Mary Fischer. On June 12, 1947, he was united in marriage to Mildred Goffard at St. Joseph Catholic Church in De Pere. Mildred preceded him in death in March of 2003. Together, they farmed in the Town of Pella for many years. He is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Leopolis.
Dad was a wonderful husband and father, and his devotion to his Christian faith was very strong. Dad and Mom owned farms in Freedom, Oneida, Seymour and Pella. He thoroughly loved raising crops and had a natural gift for farming. He also loved cars and enjoyed many trips around Wisconsin with Mom. Dad's stories from his childhood and his great sense of humor will be missed.
Donald is survived by: his thirteen children, Kathleen Schrader, William Fischer, Gail (John) Wedig, Gerald (Sharon) Fischer, Jeffrey (Connie) Fischer, Lyle (Eileen) Fischer, Randall Fischer, Kevin Fischer, Alice Fischer, Gregory Fischer, Wayne (Donia) Fischer, Allen Fischer and Donna Fischer; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, his parents and twelve brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Leopolis with Rev. Joel Jores officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
