    • Betty J. Kaufman, age 73, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Monday, December 13, 2010. She was born in Saxeville on February 27, 1937 the daughter of the late George and Viola (Hartfiel) Ehrenberg. Betty worked as a nurse's aide, waitress and cook before becoming the kitchen manager at the V.F.W. Post 2778. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards with friends. Betty was also an avid Packers fan. She will be remembered for always putting others before herself.

      Betty is survived by her children: Karen (Wes) Foth of Almond, Scott (Aileen) Ellis of Appleton, and Jerry Ellis of Neenah; grandchildren: Adrian "A.J." and Ana Ellis; great-granddaughter, Talhia Ellis; step-grandchildren: Amanda (Brian) Sattler and Casey (Scott) Van Groll; step-great-grandchildren: Dean, Devin, Desirae, Owen and Mason; brothers: Clarence (Eve) Ehrenberg, George (Sharon) Ehrenberg Jr., Marlyn Ehrenberg, Kennith (Lee) Ehrenberg, Norman (Ruby) Ehrenberg and Melvin (Cindy) Ehrenberg; sisters: Edith Butt and Shirley Smith; and Clarence Kaufman's children: Mark, Marsha and Maureen.

      She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Kaufman; brothers-in-law: Leland Butt and Mike Smith; and sister-in-law, Cecilia Ehrenberg.

      The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 20, 2010 at OUR SAVIOUR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3009 N. Meade St., Appleton, with Rev. Kurt Hoffmann officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

      The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Appleton Medical Center for their special and compassionate care. Further, a very special thank you to the V.F.W. for being a second family, and to Joan Krueger for being such a wonderful friend for many years.

      A memorial fund in Betty's name is being established.
