- Kiley, Dorothy M. (nee: Van Gorp)
Dorothy M. Kiley, of Appleton, age 90, died Monday, December 27, 2004 at Appleton Medical Center. Dorothy was born May 17, 1914, in Racine to the late Simon and Clara (Mollen) Van Gorp, and has lived in the Appleton area since the age of four. She graduated from St. Joseph Academy and Nursing School. In April of 1936, she was united in marriage to George W. Kiley and the couple enjoyed 40 years together until his death in 1976. Dorothy worked in to her 70's as an L.P.N. at Appleton Medical Center and the Outagamie County Health Center.
She was a lifelong member at St. Mary Catholic Church where she had been very active, at one time selling bell choir and other music tapes to raise thousands of dollars for the church. Dorothy loved to sew, she could play music by ear, she loved to travel and has been all over the world.
She is survived by her daughter, Ellen ( William) Lappen , Oconto Falls five sons: John (Cherie) Kiley, Omro Tom (Jude) Kiley, Appleton Patrick (Mary) Kiley, Appleton Michael (Patricia) Kiley, Appleton and Terry (Terri) Kiley, Appleton 19 grandchildren: Chuck (Cathy) Kiley, Robert (Debbie) Kiley, William (Heidi) Kiley, Kelly (Pierre) DeLesec, Kathy (Don) Wickersheim, Kristine (Jeff) Alarie, Kerri (Mark) Koerner, Clare M. Zaro, Joan Lappen, Joel Lappen, Trisha (Dan) Rawlings, Tim (Kimbre) Kiley, Katy (Tim) Schultz, Tera Kiley, Brennan Kiley, Brianna Kiley, Daniel Kiley, David Kiley, and Joseph Kiley 23 great grandchildren five sisters: Marguerite Van Gorp, Appleton Sally Pendergast, Appleton Betty Bradley, Wausau Catherine Miexel, Neenah and Pet VandenHeuvel, Appleton two sisters-in-law: Edna Van Gorp, Neenah and Jackie Van Gorp, IL. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers: Gene and Roman two grandchildren: David and Tommy four brothers-in-law: John H. Bradley, Ben Miexel, John VandenHeuvel, and Colin "Bud" Pendergast.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 30th, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., Appleton, with the Rev. Michael O'Rourke officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Our Mother was a loving, intelligent, independent and talented woman.
