    • Betty A. Mortell, age 90, of Menasha, passed away on April 5, 2016. She was born on June 15, 1925, to the late Howard and Elizabeth (Green) Crosby. On November 6, 1956, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Mortell. After graduating from Appleton West High School, she attended Mercy Hospital of Nursing. Betty spent most of her career working as an RN in the Emergency Room at St. Elizabeth's Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, and her beloved son, David. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy, grand-dog, Bella and grand-cat Mr. Lola (Denver, Colorado) as well as numerous others who affectionately called her "mom" and family friends and relatives.

On December 2, 1979, Betty wrote: "To whom it may concern: When I die (I'd like to say "if" but that would be too conceited). I have the following wishes concerning my departure. I wish to be cremated. I do not wish any visitation or memorial service. If any contributions are made I trust my survivors' judgement as to what use these are put to. (never end a sentence with a preposition!)"

In keeping with Betty's wishes, there will be no visitation or memorial service. Please consider making a contribution to your local animal shelter or charity of your choice . A memorial fund has been established in Betty's name. Online condolences can be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
