    • Little Chute - God needed a barber so he called Carl Peeters home on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the age of 83. He was born in Little Chute to his parents Orville and Verona Peeters and married Margaret Hietpas on July 11, 1959. Together they raised 5 children.

Carl, or Pete as he was known by his friends, cut hair at Carl's Barber Shop for more than 50 years. He served his country on the Navy's ammunition ship the USS Mona Loa. Carl was active in the community all of his life which was evident by his long tenure as the President of the LC Businessman's Association, multiple terms on the Little Chute School Board, and his involvement with the Fire Commission. Carl's love of music was evident in his early life as he played with his Father and Uncle in LeRoy's Dutch Boys and the LC Community Band.

On Friday evenings during the summer, Carl closed the shop at 5:00, packed his family in the station wagon and headed to Legend Lake. The A frame cottage that he built with family and friends was the place he loved and was open to all. Dad was active in the outdoors and took great pleasure in his hunting/fishing excursions with family members. He will be missed by his fishing buddies (Doc, Bob, Ritchie, Gene) and Wednesday morning cribbage players.

Carl is survived by his children: Liz (Pete) Spaeth, Chris Peeters, Michael (Lita) Peeters, Jane Bons and Margaret "Peggy" (Greg) Hermsen; grandchildren: Katie and Jon Spaeth, Christopher, David, Timothy and Joshua Peeters, Carly Peeters and Storm (Chad) Patton, Alex (Doris Bierman) and Casey Bons, Rachael (Andy Dick), Nathan, Meagan, and Rebekah Weber; sisters: Darlene (Mike) Bevers, Joyce Egan; brother: Tom (Lin) Peeters; sisters-in-law: Clare (Lee) Van Boxtel, Sheila (Clyde) Schepp and Lois Hietpas; brothers-in-law: Luke (Rosie) Hietpas, Mark (Linda) Hietpas, Tom (Sheila) Hietpas, Mike (Jo) Hietpas and Russell Harmon; and many nieces and nephews as well as two great grandchildren - Caspian and Charlie Blue.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Margaret; and her siblings: Don (Dorothy) Hietpas, Mary Joyce (Emmet) McMorrow, June (Bob) Stuyvenberg, Helen Harmon, Claude Hietpas, John (Shirley) Hietpas, Evelyn Hietpas and infant brother Matthew Hietpas.

A visitation and memorial gathering will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main St. Little Chute) beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of Military Honors, conducted by the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319 and American Legion Post 41, at 2:00 p.m. Committal St. John Cemetery.
