    • BEAVER DAM - Alice E. Kamps, age 78, of Beaver Dam, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam. The former Alice Elizabeth Mullen was born on June 1, 1927, to the late Chris and Mary Grace (Ryan) Mullen in Appleton. She graduated from St. Marys Academy in Prairie du Chien and attended Mount Mary College in Milwaukee. On Sept. 2, 1950, Alice was united in marriage with William G. Kamps at St. Marys Church in Appleton.

      She enjoyed gardening and bird watching, as well as playing bridge and sheepshead. She also enjoyed playing golf and was an active member of Old Hickory Country Club for many years. Alice was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish and was active in the Meals-on-Wheels Program for the past 25 years. She was also a member of the Beaver Dam Community Hospital Auxiliary and was a volunteer at Hillside Manor. Alice never had a bad word to say about anyone and was well loved by everyone who knew her.

      Survivors include four sons, Paul (Alison Koelsch) Kamps of Oregon, James Kamps of Fond du Lac, Michael (Deb) Kamps of Beaver Dam, and Peter (Giniene) Kamps of Neenah; her daughter, Mary (Donald) Birmingham of Green Bay; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister, Joan Tannehill of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Richard Mullen and Thomas Mullen, both of Appleton; nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Joseph; and a brother, Jim Mullen.

      Friends and family may call at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL CHURCH, 511 South Spring Street, on Friday, May 12, 2006, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church on Friday beginning at 11:30 a.m. Father Carlos Florez will officiate. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Appleton on Monday, May 15, 2006, at 10 a.m.
