    • Marie C. Kamps, age 99, passed away at Rennes Health Care in Appleton on Wednesday, September 1, 2010. She was born February 13, 1911 in Freedom, daughter of the late Matthew and Ann (Romenesko) Van Hoof.
On October 11, 1932, she married George J. Kamps at St. Nicholas Church, Freedom. She and her husband owned and operated Clintonville Floral for 20 years before moving back to Freedom. From 1962 to retirement in 1977, they owned and operated George Kamps Greenhouse in Oneida. Together, they developed many loyal customers by growing many spring plants and providing wedding and funeral flowers for the families in the Oneida community. They retired to Crivitz, WI.

She was a member of St. Nicholas Church, having been baptized, confirmed and married there. She belonged to Christian Mothers. She loved playing Sheepshead, knitting, crocheting and praying. She was happiest when making others happy by giving them flowers, vegetables or her homemade bakery.

Survivors include her five children: three sons: Kenneth (Louis Jean), Platteville; George (Rita), Green Bay; Steven, Sparta; two daughters: Barbara (Robert) Wittlinger, Green Bay; Patricia (Marty) Murphy, Freedom; 26 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren survive her. One sister-in-law, Mabel Van Hoof, also survives her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matt and Anna Van Hoof; her infant twin brother, Joseph; her husband, George on April 26, 1981; her daughter, Delores and son-in-law, James Post; granddaughter, Charise Kamps; and great-great-grandson, Alex. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence Van Hoof, Walter and wife Dorothy Van Hoof, and Walter's second wife, Rose; Kennth and Florence Van Hoof and sister, Evelyn and Russell Nackers. She was also preceded by brothers-in-law and their spouses: John, Henry, Edward, William, Jacob and Clarence; sisters-in-law and spouses: Agnes, Christrianna, Minnie, Mary and Rosella.

Friends may call at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom on Saturday, September 4, 2010, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon with Father Dave Hoffmann officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.muehlboettcher.com.

A special thank you to all the staff at Rennes Health Care and Dr. Heyerdahl who have treated our Mother with such dignity especially Belinda who made her laugh so often.
