  • Notes
    • Patricia E. Berg was born in Appleton on May 26, 1946, to Clarence and Mary (Ermers) Hein and passed away on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010, at Cherry Meadows.

Pat was a 1964 graduate of Xavier High School and a 1968 graduate from UW-Oshkosh with a degree in Medical Technology. Pat married Gary W. Berg in 1980 and he passed away in 1981. Pat was in a long-time relationship with John Jenkel, who passed away in 2006.

Pat worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital for 22 years as a microbiologist and for short periods of time for Valley Periodontics, Community Bio Resources and Fox Valley Internal Medical. The last 10 years of her career were spent working for John M. Elisberg, MD.

An avid Packer fan, Pat rarely missed a home game and traveled to many away games. She was also a NASCAR fan and enjoyed playing cards. Pat had an extensive collection of Precious Moments figurines and Green Bay Packer prints of which she was very proud.

Pat is survived by her mother, Mary Hein; two sisters, Dianne (David) Dexter and Mary Sue (Brian) Lee; nieces and nephews, Nancy (Jeremy) Schabow; Thomas Dexter; Jonathan (Esther) Dexter; Daniel (Shani) Dexter; Allison (Kyle) Bunnow and Andrea Lee. She is also survived by many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Hein; husband, Gary Berg; John Jenkel and many aunts and uncles.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel with Deacon Rick Simon officiating. Friends may call at the funeral chapel on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for CCFA (Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America) and Make a Wish Foundation of Wisconsin.

The family would like to thank Dr. Elisberg, Dr. Mortara, Dr. Swanson, the staffs at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology, the Martha Siekman Cancer Center and Cherry Meadows. Thanks also to the many friends and relatives who helped during this challenging time — especially Al, Jack, Guy, Lori, Suzie, Jean, Jackie, Norma and Jess.
