- Grace M. Hockers, 80, De Pere, passed away Sunday morning at a local hospital after a long illness. She was born July 30, 1923, in De Pere, to the late Joseph and Nettie (Baeten) Aerts. On June 18, 1947, Fr. Harold Hockers united her in marriage to Don Hockers at St. Boniface Catholic Church, De Pere.
Grace was a wonderful and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to sew and crochet and was a wonderful cook as well as a wonderful fisherman. Grace loved to take rides in the fall to see all of the beautiful colors. She also looked forward to her monthly lunches with her friends.
Grace was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, De Pere. She was a very strong person and earned the respect of her husband and children, and was a hero to her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Don; her children; her grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette (Joseph) Glowacki and June Aerts. Numerous nieces and nephews and members of Don's family further survive Grace.
Two brothers, Carl and Harvey Aerts, preceded Grace in death.
Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, De Pere, until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Conrad Kratz, O.Praem, as the Celebrant and Fr. Gilbert Jacobs, O.Praem, and Fr. David Baeten as Concelebrants. Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary cemetery.
