  • Notes
    • Daniel A. Beck, De Pere, age 39, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the Indiana University Health Hospital in Indianapolis, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Sheboygan on November 18, 1975 to Roger and Carol (Woelfel) Beck. Dan attended New Holstein High School and graduated from Northcentral Technical College with a degree in Architectural Residential Design.

On October 22, 2005, Dan was united in marriage to the love of his life, Julie Kessler, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Parish. He was employed as a draftsman at MidCon Products in Hortonville for 22 years and took pride in showing his family his work. Dan was a Lieutenant for the Lawrence Fire Department; his sons greatly enjoyed the many rides in Engine 621. He enjoyed drafting, wood working, auto racing, camping, making maple syrup, and visiting the Eau Claire Dells. He was an avid Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers fan. He was fondly called "Tall Guy" (he's 6"7") or "Buck" by family and friends.

Over the past nine years, he courageously battled colorectal cancer, Gardner's Syndrome, a small intestinal transplant, and a six-organ multi-visceral transplant. Through all of this, Dan always put others first; he was an inspiration to all who knew him. He enjoyed being with friends and family, but most importantly, spending time with his wife and sons.

Dan will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Julie; their sons, Lucas and Gavin; parents, Roger and Carol; siblings: Jeff (Lori) Beck, Tammy (Chris) Mertens and Jenny (Tim) DeSombre; Julie's parents, Joseph and Leone Kessler; brothers and sisters-in-law: Dan (Elisha) Kessler, Ryan Kessler and Jaclyn (Joe) Lyons; nieces and nephews: Jessica, Cody, and Ryan Beck; Josie, Gretchen, and Kylee Mertens; Conner and Chloe DeSombre; Claire, Abigail, and Cole Lyons; and Breanna, Jordan, and Brayden Kessler. He is further survived by his brothers of the Lawrence Fire Department, his MidCon family, other relatives, and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Hugo and Hildegard (Meyer) Woelfel and Raymond and Elnora (Otto) Beck; his Godson and nephew, Casey DeSombre; and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held Monday October 12, 2015 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main St. Little Chute) from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Tuesday October 13, 2015 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC PARISH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Ronald Belitz will officiate. Committal St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to benefit his sons. To sign the guest book, please visit www.oconnellfh.com.

The family would like to thank the caring staff in the transplant unit at IU-Health. Your care and compassion will not be forgotten.

Daniel, you're the answer to a prayer I whispered long ago; a wish I once made upon a star. Until we meet again, my love, your spirit lives within our boys and me, forever in our hearts.
