- David R. Dorschner, age 76 of Hortonville, died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at Cherry Meadows in Appleton, falling into the arms of his loving Savior. David was born on November 19, 1934, in New London, Wisconsin, the son of Ronald and Anita (Rohloff) Dorschner. He was baptized on December 16, 1934, and confirmed on April 10, 1949, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Hortonville, where David also attended grade school. In 1953, David graduated from Hortonville High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army with the 620th Engineer Company in Germany. On June 25, 1960, David married Dianne Galleske at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano.
Early in his career, David worked for numerous carpenters until his purchase into the Appleton Awning Shop. In 1992, he became sole owner, and managed the business until his retirement, at which time he sold the business to his son and son-in-law. He also drove school bus for the Hortonville School District.
David was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hortonville, where he served on both the church council and school board.
He is survived by his children: Carla (Mark) Matz and Mike (Julie) Dorschner, both of Hortonville; six dear grandchildren he thought the world of, Jamie, Kristi and Kelly Matz, Ronnie, Heather and Brian Dorschner, all of Hortonville; a sister, Beth Dorschner of Madison; a brother, Marvin (Bonnie) Dorschner of Hortonville; a sister-in-law, Florence Miller of Shawano; a brother-in-law, Clifford Galleske of Appleton; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dianne; sister, Janet Dorschner; mother- and father-in-law, Philip and Pauline Galleske; brothers-in-law, Wilmer Galleske and Norbert Miller; sister-in-law, Carol Galleske; and step mother, Anita Dorschner.

A funeral service for David will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Hortonville, with Rev. Ralph Rosenberg officiating. Family and friends may call at Borchardt and Moder Funeral Home, Hortonville, on Tuesday evening (TODAY) from 4 until 8 p.m. and again directly at church Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Hortonville.
