Hurst, Gertrude Steers
Gertrude Steers Hurst, 87, Middleton/Port Washington, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2010. She was born on May 18, 1922, in Kimberly, Wis., where she married Cletus Hurst on Oct. 5, 1942, and then lived for 40 years in Port Washington, Wis. Gertrude was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed making every piece of clothing for her children from their young ages throughout their college years. She loved shopping, travel and was an advocate of good manners and community service.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Jim) Anderson, Middleton; and Kristine (Barbara Olsen) Hurst, Los Angeles; her grandchildren, Matthew (Kate) Anderson, Oak Park, Ill.; Joshua (Jenn) Anderson, Madison; Jena (fiance, Matthew T. Bivens) Campion, Los Angeles; and Robert Campion, Los Angeles; great-grandchildren, Samuel Anderson and Sydney Athanas; her sister, Bernice Quella; brother, Ronald Steers; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cletus in 1986; sisters, Anamae Hubers and Phyliss Kiel; and brothers, Richard and Roger Steers.
Memorial services celebrating Gertrude's life will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 2 p.m. where family will be receiving friends from 1 p.m. until the time of services. A time of fellowship and food will follow at Sprecher's Restaurant and Pub, 1262 John Q. Hammons Drive, Middleton, immediately following the service.
