Age 71, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 1, 1998 at his home following a very courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 21, 1926; the son of the late Arthur and Anna (Van Dinter) Schnese. He grew up in Kimberly and attended Holy Name of Jesus Grade School and Kimberly High School. He was the loving husband of Esther (Pleier) Schnese for 46 years and above all else a family man, loved dearly by his 10 children and five sons-in-law, four daughters-in-law and 19 grandchildren. Marv served in the United States Navy during World War II as a radio man aboard the USS LST 991. He was an avid baseball and softball player participating in organized softball for many years. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the William Verhagen Post 60 of the American Legion, Kimberly. He was a charter member and treasurer for the Knights of Columbus Council 4489. He served on the Police and Fire commission and was a K.R.A. member. Marv retired as an internal auditor for Capital Credit Union, formerly Kimberly Credit Union. He enjoyed camping with his family, fishing, playing golf and traveling. He is survived by his wife, Esther Schnese; nine children and their families: Ellen (Mike) Hruzek, Jessica, Andrea and Danielle, Kimberly; Diane (Boyd Brandon) Schnese, the wife of the late Mark Schnese; Greg and Tim, Kimberly; Rick (Judy) Schnese, Jaime, Brandon and Cody, Darboy; Bill Schnese and his fiancee', Sharon Sullivan, Todd and Abby Sullivan, Kimberly; Julie (Hugh) Meyerhofer, Amber and Rachaele, Appleton; Mike (Kathy) Schnese, Dylan and Jake, Appleton; Dave (Carol) Schnese, Mason and Brianna, Darboy; Mary (Doug) Van Handel, Tamra, Benjamin and Fischer, Darboy; Paula (Terry) Mollica, San Francisco, California; Lynn (Paul) Arts, Austin and Marcus, Darboy; a sister, Priscilla (John) Vosters, Kimberly; three brothers: Ken Schnese, Kimberly; Carl Schnese, Black River Falls; Larry Schnese, Kaukauna. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Flavian, who died as a young man in World War II; his elder son, Mark, whom he missed terribly; three sisters-in-law: Alvina, Grace and Rita Schnese. The funeral liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 1998 at Holy Name Catholic Church, Kimberly with Fr. Robert Vandenberg officiating. Burial will be in Holy Name Cemetery. Friends may call at the Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E. Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and after 9 a.m. on Friday until the cortege leaves for the church. The William Verhagen Post 60 of the American Legion, Kimberly, will conduct military rites immediately following the service. The American Legion will have a service at 7 p.m. followed by a parish prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
