    • Sister Mary Grace Peters, age 90, a Sister of St. Francis of the Holy Cross, died peacefully at Woodside Nursing Home on July 21, 2012. Sister Mary Grace (Margaret Ann) was born April 8, 1922 in W. De Pere to Urban and Clara (Kersten) Peters. She attended St. Boniface Grade School and graduated from St. Joseph Academy. Later she received a BA in English from St. Norbert College and an MA in History from Marquette University. Sr. Mary Grace entered the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross in 1940. She was professed in August 1943 and made final profession in August 1949. She celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in August 2001.

      Sister Mary Grace spent many years of dedicated service as a teacher and principal. She loved teaching and taught in schools in the Green Bay Diocese; St. John, Howard, St. Joseph, Marinette, St. Mary, Bear Creek, Holy Cross, Bay Settlement. She served her Community as Director of Postulants, Community Secretary, General Councilor, receptionist/secretary and Development Office Secretary (1992-2003). Sr. Mary Grace retired at the Motherhouse in 2003. Sister Mary Grace is remembered for her love of prayer, beautiful smile, reading, playing cards and visiting the sick.

      She is survived by her sister-in-law Bonnie Peters, nieces and nephews, and by the members and Associates of her Community, the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross.

      Sister Mary Grace was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Norbert, Robert, and John and sisters-in-law Veramae and Helen Peters.

      Friends may call at St. Francis Convent, 3110 Nicolet Drive, Green Bay on Monday, July 23 at 4:00 p.m. for the reception of the body and visitation. The Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Visitation for Sr. Mary Grace will continue on Tuesday, July 24 at St. Bernard Church, 2040 Hillside Ln., Green Bay from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. with Monsignor James Dillenburg officiating. Burial will be in the Sisters of St. Francis Cemetery following the dinner.

      The Sisters of St. Francis and the family of Sister Mary Grace wish to express their gratitude to the nursing staff at St. Francis Convent and Woodside Nursing Home for their loving care and support.
