- Marvin H. Schroeder, age 96, passed away at Grand Horizons West in Appleton on Saturday, June 5, 2010. He was born in Appleton on August 13, 1913, the son of the late Benhardt and Minnie (Lasch) Schroeder. On August 12, 1939, he married Helen Meyer. She preceded him in death in 2004. Marvin was proud to serve in Europe during WWII. He was a salesperson at Automotive Supply Company in Appleton for 48 years. He enjoyed tinkering with engines and helping others by fixing their cars and other tasks around the home.
Marvin is survived by his children: Susan Schroeder of Menasha, Tom (Chris) Schroeder of Cumberland, WI, and Mark (Wanda) Schroeder of Neenah;
grandchildren: Steve (Jill) Schroeder, Jill Brillhart, and Paul Johnson;
great-grandchildren: Neleh, Katelin, Cole, and Riley;
sisters: Adaline Marschner, Evangelyn Marschner, and Dorie (Doug) Moericke;
and brother-in-law, Jan Sedivy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen;
brothers:
Clarence (Lucille) Schroeder,
Bernard (Dee) Schroeder,
and Bobby Schroeder;
sisters:
Edna (Howard) Sedo,
Elda (Frank) Van Toll,
Janetta (Herb) Zeller,
and Bonnie Jean (Ken) Landskron;
and brothers-in-law: Edward Marschner and Albert Marschner.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2010, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
The family extends a special thank you to the staffs at Grand Horizons West and Heartland Hospice for their kindhearted care.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Marvin's name is being established.
