- Thomas J. Robinson, 69, of Laona, WI passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
Thomas was born on November 6, 1946 in Kimberly, WI to Norman "Red" and Marie (Fox) Robinson. Thomas graduated from Kimberly High School and attended Fox Valley Technical College.
He married Janyce L. Robinson on June 10, 1977 in Little Chute, WI. Thomas then went on to work 37 years running a plasma and torch burning machine for Allis Charmers, which was eventually bought out by the companies Boliden Allis, Svedala Industries and Metso Minerals who he continued working for until the plant was closed and relocated overseas. Thomas then moved to White Lake, WI and began working at Plaspack USA Volm Bag Company in Antigo, WI until his retirement on September 30, 2008.
Thomas was a long time resident of Appleton, WI. As a young man Thomas' parents had a cottage on Deer Skin Lake in Eagle River, WI where he would spend every weekend for many years until the cottage was sold in 1992. Thomas then began traveling and camping with his family. Thomas belonged to two Jayco camping clubs one in Sheyboygan, WI and one in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. In 1998, Thomas purchased a vacation home in White Lake, WI. Thomas and Janyce moved to White Lake full time in 2002 until 2008. They then moved to Laona, WI and then to Argonne, WI. Thomas was an avid fisherman, who also enjoyed hunting, boating, ATVing, snowmobiling, camping and traveling. He also liked watching the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and NASCAR. Thomas loved nature and all kinds of wildlife.
Thomas is survived by a daughter Vicky (Dan) Stillman of Lexington, NC; two sons, Joseph (Theresa) Vorpahl of Neenah, WI and Thomas (Heather) Robinson of Laona, WI. He is further survived by ten grandchildren; Steve, Melissa, Tracy, Jake, Jon, Tony, Makenna, Danica, India, Savannah and six great-grandchildren; Ameerah, Lainah, Madic, Haleigh, Emily and Elijah. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother David and his wife Janyce.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Riverview Lutheran Church in Appleton, WI at 12:00PM. Visitation will be from 10:30AM until the time of service with lunch to follow.
