      Bessie C. Van Dinter, 1719 E. Edgewood Dr., Appleton, Wisconsin, age 99, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, December 2, 1997. She was born on September 11, 1898 to the late David and Theresa Halloran. On June 16, 1925 she was married to Peter J. Van Dinter. Her husband died on May 21, 1967. She and her husband operated Pete's Boat Livery at Lower High Cliff for many years. For the past 30 years she has made her home with her daughter Jule. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who spent her retirement years taking care of her family. She enjoyed her beautiful flower gardens, crocheting, frying fish and watching TV.

      She is survived by her daughter, Jule Van Handel; grandchildren; Tom [Mary] Van Handel, Diane [Bruce] Hietpas, Wayne [Bonnie] Van Handel and Dawn [Mike] Vandenberg; eitht great grandchildren; Brian, Rick, Wendy, Jason, Jessica, Jeffrey Van Handel and Nick and Heidi Hietpas; two brothers; Edward and Norman Halloran; three sisters; Clara Novoty, Jule Kampf and Tress Halloran; a sister in-law, Cedella Halloran Schmidt.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Peter, son in-law, Harold Van Handel; three brothers; David, Mike and Leo; three sisters; Catharine Kohl, Mae Callan and Ceil Courtois, as well as several nieces and nephews.

      The Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John Church, Little Chute. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
