    • Roger J. Haines, age 73, of Appleton, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Cherry Meadows, from the complications of Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Roger was born on October 30, 1937, in Green Bay, to the late Robert and Johanna Haines. He married Rhonda K. Van Ryzin on June 28, 1974, in Appleton. Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed bird, rabbit and squirrel feeding. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Rhonda; his daughter, Jennifer (Dennis) Young; his grandchildren, Christopher, Nicole, Erin and Ian Young; and his sister, Carol Shorter. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his son, Jeff; and his brothers-in-law, Bud Shorter and Butch Van Ryzin. At Roger's request, there was no visitation and a private funeral service was held. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Matt and Bea for their loving care. A memorial has been established in his name.
