- Bernice J. Aerts (VanEnkenvort), 85, De Pere, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015 from complications of a surgery. She was born on Sept. 8, 1929, the daughter of the late Vincent and Amelia (Hock) VanEnkevort. Bernice married the love of her life, soulmate and best friend, Bill Aerts, on Sept. 27, 1947. This was the best day of her life. Mom would always say she lived a good life, a perfect life.
Bernice loved to spend time with her husband and family. She loved to spend time up north at their cabin, sitting on the deck. She loved to play cards, watch Packer games and Jeff Gordon race.
Bernice and Bill had five children; Dennis Sr. (Penny) Aerts, Harvey Aerts, Peggy Reinhard (Tom Buschmann), Alice Aerts and Vicky Aerts (Jeff Blake); 7 grandchildren, Kristy (Chad) Schafer, Jessica (David) Brunner, Jacob Blake-Aerts, Justin Blake-Aerts, Nathan Aerts, Dennis Aerts Jr. and Dean Aerts. She loved to have fun with her great-grandchildren, Lillian and Kylie Schafer, and Aiden and Madyson Brunner. Bernice also enjoyed visiting and chatting with her very special friend, Mike Vandenberg. Bernice is further survived by her 7 brothers and sisters; David (Cathy) VanEnkevort, Eugene VanEnkevort, Cheri (Jay) Hewitt, Gail (Jim) Gerrits, Elaine (Lenny) Green, Joyce VanEnkenvort, Sandy (John) Giles.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, Slim (Molly) VanEnkevort; son, Harvey Aerts; daughter, Alice Aerts, her sister, Joyce VanEnkenvort; grandson, Justin Blake-Aerts; sister-in-law, Lue VanEnkevort and two brothers-in-law, Jim Gerrits and Lenny Green.
Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street in De Pere on Friday, May 29, 2015 beginning at 3pm. A funeral service will follow at 7pm with Fr. Tim Shillcox O.Praem officiating.
