      Active Catholic Layman Dies at 46

      Edward M. Gerrits, 46, of 1624 W. Lawrence St., traffic manager at the Wisconsin Distributing Co.. died Thursday after a two-month illness.

      He was the editor of the Si-O-Seven newspaper of the Father Fitzmaurice Council of the Knights of Columbus and treasurer of the Sacred Heart Seminary League and the Christian Family Movement.

      He was born Dec. 14, 1916 in Wrightstown, and has been a resident of Appleton for the last 34 years.

      Gerrits is survived by his wife, one son, one daughter, four brothers and two sisters.

      Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ellenbecker Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Sunday.
