      Joseph J. Joosten 516 W. 9th St. Kaukauna, age 81, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 1999, at the Outagamie Health Care Center. He was born August 24, 1917 in Little Chute, son of the late Arnold and Antoinette (Hammond) Joosten. Joe served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1943. On February 12, 1944 Joe married the former Rita Weigman at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kaukauna. He worked for and retired from Consolidated Papers after 33 years of service. Joe loved any activity that would keep him outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He held his grandchildren most dear and they loved to listen to his endless stories.
      Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Rita Joosten, Kaukauna; two sons, Thomas and Donna Joosten, Kaukauna; John and Judy Joosten, Wisconsin Rapids; a daughter, Mary and Bill Knabenbauer, Appleton; six grandchildren, Adam Joosten and fiancee Alethia, Christine Joosten and special friend Robert, Missy (Craig) Budzinski, Dawn (Jason) Warren, Bob Joosten and Fiancee Shelley, and Shane Knabenbauer and special friend Cori; one great granddaughter, and two sisters in-law, Marion Hurley, Appleton and Frances Behnke, Appleton. Other than his parents, Joe was preceded in death by five brothers, Art, Clarence, Walter, George, and Jack Joosten; five sisters, Mary Daanen, Alma Wyro, Angela Hooyman, Alice Mae Schwallenberg and Geraldine Joosten.
      The funeral liturgy will be help at 4 p.m. Friday July 16, 1999, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 119 W. 7th St., Kaukauna, with father Robert Udulutsch O.F.M. Cap., officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated. Greenwood-Fargo Funeral Home 500 Hendricks Ave., Kaukauna. The Joosten family would like to extend their most heartfelt thanks to all the caring nurses and staff at Outagamie Health Care Center for their outstanding care and support.
