- Robert N. Sol, age 67, of Menomonie, died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2001, at his home in the Town of Dunn, rural Menomonie.
Bob was born July 15, 1934, in the Town of Dunn, near Downsville, the son of Albert and Angeline (Kadinger) Sol. Bob grew up in the Downsville area. He graduated in 1952 from Durand High School. After high school he farmed near Downsville.
Bob married Margaret "Peg" Ryder on Aug. 16, 1955, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Menomonie. After marriage, they continued farming near Downsville until he retired from farming in 1994. Bob remained active, working at many other jobs. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time wih his family and friends. He will be sadly missed.
Bob is survived by his wife, Margaret, "Peg"; two sons, Michael (Sarah) and Gary (Darcy), both of Menomonie; six grandchildren, Beth (Greg) Stai, and Jeremy, Joshua, Casey, Nathan and Andrew Sol; two great-grandchildren, Mitchell and MiKayla Stai; his mother, Angeline Sol of Menomonie; a brother, Kenneth (Gloria) of Menomonie; a sister, Marida (Robert) Riley of Alturas, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Albert, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Maxine Ryder.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Menomonie with the Rev. Lyle Schulte officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Stanton-Goodrich-Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie served the family.
