    • Merlin George Meier, 77, of Chatham died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at St. John's Hospital,Springfield, IL.

      He was born Feb. 28, 1927, in Neenah, Wis., the son of Peter and Verona Hilger Meier. His wife, Bernice, preceded him in death.

      Mr. Meier retired from Ohio Casualty Insurance. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Chatham.

      Survivors: three sons; a daughter; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Claude and Robert Meier, both of Wisconsin; and two sisters, Lilas Dietzen and Jen Halfmann, both of Wisconsin.

      Services: St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Chatham, the Rev. Robert Franzen officiating. Burial: Chatham Memorial Cemetery.
